A Perfect Mistake Interview

What are your favorite TV shows?
I’ve been hooked on Outlander, The Queen, Downtown Abby, I love period dramas. I’ll also
stop doing everything to watch Masterchef UK, Masterchef Australia or Chopped. At the moment we don’t have a TV. It’s weird but wonderful.

What is your favorite meal?
My mom is a fantastic cook and makes traditional South African food to perfection. Her leg of lamb, roast potatoes, and pumpkin is unbeatable.

If you were to write a series of novels, what would it be about?
I haven’t written a standalone. Somehow all my books have grown into series. The Perfect Series is about Eastern Africa and the luxury hotel industry, really a very romantic place to travel to!

Is there a writer you idolize? If so who?
I’ll always idolize Georgette Heyer, because she wrote clever, witty books and created a whole genre by herself (she is the mother of Regency Romance). I’ve deep respect for Donna Tartt. She’s woven a beautiful love story in the bigger plot of The Goldfinch, which in itself was an intricate, but perfect palindrome.

How did you come up for the title of this book?
The title for Perfect Mistake has evolved a lot. The final title was inspired by a conversation I
had with my friend Martha, who told me about the Perfect Mistake her daughter had made. We had a good chuckle and then I said to her, I think you just coined the title for my book. For this series it works, the two other books in the series are titled Perfect Addiction and Perfect Storm.
