Death and the Social Climber

Death and the Social Climber: The Second Ann Audrey Mystery
Death and the Social Climber: The Second Ann Audrey Mystery by Winnie Simpson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book I have read by Winnie Simpson, and although I don’t usually read “backward” in a series, I might have to in this one. Such a fun cozy. Set in the South, it has all of the southern charm built in with its amateur sleuth and what I’ll call the nosy aunts...

One thing I like most about Simpson’s writing skills is her creation of characters. I liked them all. Of course, setting the scene in a world of wealth and pampered people helped her have plenty of room to color them all differently. The second thing I enjoyed was the humor, sometimes belly-laughing funny and sometimes delightfully subtle.

All the enjoyment of a good mystery with the relaxation of a beach read mixed together. I take that back…in my part of the world it’s getting time for this to be the “curled up in your chair reading” kind of book!
