Date Published: December 2021

A collection of lyrical poetry that savours the myriad of emotions that life gifts us.

The town of Unity sits perched on the edge of a yawning ravine where, long ago, a charisma of angels provided spiritual succour to a fledgeling human race. Then mankind was granted the gift of free will and had to find its own way, albeit with the guidance of the angels. The people’s first conscious act was to make an exodus from Unity – they built a rope bridge across the ravine and founded the town of Topeth. For a time, the union between the people of Topeth and the angels of Unity was one of mutual benefit. After that early spring advance, there had been a torrid decline in which mankind’s development resembled a crumpled, fading autumnal leaf.

Heal Yourself

The body wants to return to balance. It just needs the tools to do so. Heal Yourself ~ Body ~ Mind ~ Spirit ~ helps you discover the messages your body is sending, and it also shares the tools to aid your body in healing itself.

"Part One: Body" covers Sandie's whole-body approach to healing: rebuilding and rebalancing the body, removing stress, and addressing the root causes of chronic illness. All key systems in the body are covered, including functional laboratory test analysis to determine what support your body needs, and the forms of supplements that are right for you. Because everything in our body is connected, we must also focus on our mind and spirit in order to heal. When we change our negative thoughts, beliefs, and responses to ones that serve us, we remove a huge burden of stress from the body.

"Part Two: Mind" dives deep into all areas of personal growth, from empowering language to the Laws of Attraction, building healthy relationships to wealth consciousness, and so much more.

"Part Three: Spirit" is focused on meditations to help further your spiritual journey. Through meditation, you learn to become the observer of the body. From here suffering becomes optional, allowing you to shift to a vibration of peace where the body, mind and spirit can heal.

read an excerpt...

One of the most common questions I receive is, “What is the root cause of my illness?” Everyone wants to blame something: Lyme, candida, mold, root canals, antibiotics, medication, and so on. I have found the answer to be that there is never a single root cause of illness. We all start out with a reserve. I think of these reserves as our bodies’ “bank accounts.” Genetics and the health of our mother will determine how much of a reserve a person has in the beginning of their life. Through pregnancy and after birth, any stress we encounter makes withdrawals from the bank account. Stress includes emotional stress, physical stress, and chemical stress. Emotional stress is pretty straightforward. Physical stress will include things like injury and exercise. Chemical stress includes toxins, metals, and pathogens. Our world is a stressful place.

The majority of people eat a Standard American Diet (SAD). Kids grow up lacking nutrients. Moms are nutrient deficient, which creates more genetic mutations being expressed from the womb and beyond. If a mom’s detoxification pathways, in particular methylation, are not functioning optimally, it will mean less detoxification capability for the baby. Formula fed babies start out with a propensity for leaky gut. Moms are now getting vaccinated while pregnant, and babies currently being born have the most vaccines in history.

Withdrawal after withdrawal is happening from our bodies’ bank account, which quickly becomes depleted. Once the person hits zero balance and goes into debt, symptoms start occurring. The further in debt they get, the more symptoms appear, and eventually, disease is inevitable. It is no wonder we are seeing illness in increasingly younger individuals, and the rate of all diseases continues to climb. The amount of stress we face is outrageous.

By the time you start showing symptoms, the last event is what most people correlate with their symptoms and illness. In reality, it is just the straw that broke the camel’s back. If it were not that case of food poisoning, for instance, then it would have been the next stressor.

That is why I don’t focus on pathogens or metals in the beginning, and I do not recommend strict diets. Both of these end up stressing the body further. We need to stop making the withdrawals, or at least reduce them, and start making deposits. Deposits are supplements, herbs, and foods that fuel us.

Deposits include fueling our souls with passion, purpose, joy, and love. Stopping the withdrawals is done by removing chemicals in our environment, reducing emotional stress through mindset work, eating clean, whole foods, and in time, removing metals and pathogens. Rebuild and rebalance, repair detoxification pathways, and remove stress; these 4 Rs are critical to replenishing our bodies’ bank account.

More personal "stuff" about Sandie Gascon...

Does this book have a special meaning to you? i.e. where you found the idea, its symbolism, its meaning, who you dedicated it to, what made you want to write it?

Yes, it is very special to me.  I poured so much knowledge on how to heal naturally into the pages. I went through so much suffering on my own personal journey to find these tools. I shared all my personal meditations and a compilation of the most powerful mindset tools I had learned in the five years prior to writing the book.  I dedicated Heal Yourself to my family as they have been my greatest spiritual teachers.

Where do you get your storylines from?

The entire book has been created through my personal experiences healing and the hundreds of clients I have worked with over the years along with the thousands of hours I have put into studying and taking courses in natural healing and functional medicine.

Was this book easier or more difficult to write than others?  Why?

It is my first book and was very easy to write in that when I sat down to write the words always flowed.  It was a challenge committing to writing every day.  It took me almost a year to write it and do the preliminary edits before I sent it off to be edited professionally.  The most difficult part was the editing.  After each edit, I reread it and if I found and mistakes, I would send it off to be edited again.  I went through seven rounds of editing and 5 different editors.  I also listened to the entire audiobook after the first audiobook recording round and then again in full after the mistakes were corrected.

Do you only write one genre?

Yes, I only write in the holistic health and wellness genre though in the future I could see myself writing specifically on conscious parenting.  I also have ideas and storylines for fantasy novels.

Give us a picture of where you write, where you compose these words…is it Starbucks, a den, a garden…we want to know your inner sanctum?

Most of my ideas came to me in bed between 3:00 and 5:00 am.  I find I am most connected to source at that time.  While I was writing Heal Yourself, I was usually up between those times most nights.  I would be awoken with a flood of energy and ideas would pour in.  My son was co sleeping with me so I would turn my phone on red light mode and write down all the random inspiration.  I would usually fall back to sleep around 6:00 am.  I would then awaken at 8:00 am, turn on my computer and type.  I would organize and make sense of all the ideas that came through the night.  I would write in my office and regularly be interrupted by my toddler.  I made a commitment to not be irritated with any interruptions.  I would allow them and go with the flow.  Any lower vibration emotions like frustration would only hinder the creative process.  I knew that what was important would come back if it was meant to be in the book.

And finally, of course…was there any specific event or circumstance that made you want to be a writer?

I have always wanted to be a writer.  When I was a child, I would sit at the kitchen table and try to write a book.  Looking back at my determination and my stick figure drawings is quite amusing.  In university I tried so very hard to write my ideas for fantasy novels.  I read so many books on how to write.  I could never get anything on paper besides the story line, characters, and plot. When I started writing Heal Yourself the words just flowed.  I could type for hours without needing a break, stop, and pick up where I left off the next day.  It was an amazing feeling, and I am very grateful I had the experience.  Currently I am working on creating a practitioner course where people who are passionate about helping others heal can become certified as a health coach.

Mother Blues

 Mystery / Literary Fiction

Date Published:Sep 30, 2021

Publisher: OTF Literary

What if your childhood harbored a dire warning about your future? What if your life and the lives of dozens of others, including your future child, depended on you deciphering that warning before it is too late?

Mother Blues is about the maternal relationships we never knew existed, the evil we never expect, and the redemption we never think possible. Subversively feminist and environmental, this is a novel about mothers: those we have loved and lost, those we have never known, and those who have always been there for us whether we have realized it or not. And while this is not a novel about blues music, the blues is everywhere in this story, both grounding it in history and pushing it forward in a slow, rhythmic ache.

If there is one maternal presence that binds together the characters of this novel, living and dead, it is the blues itself. Bessie Smith, Ma Rainey, Etta James, Big Mama Thornton, Mahalia Jackson, and all the timeless mothers to that quintessentially American genre are here, a soulful Greek chorus singing from the shadows, warning and imploring, offering hope, and bearing witness to lives adrift and in danger of capsizing.
