If noir fiction is its own literary genre then I would say this is it. I need to start by saying that short stories or novellas are not my favorite thing. Quite often they don’t seem to have as much of a plot but that wasn’t true here. All three of these novellas take place in Montague Falls and all three contain some type of story involving teenagers of various ages.
I’ll just tell you from my reader’s perspective that I couldn’t put the first story down. It was an interesting plot and although I would tag it as YA, it was of interest to every age. Book 2 was difficult for me to read. I suppose it was realistic in today’s world. It was like watching teens not having enough to do, showing off, and getting into weird and harmful places. A situation where not all of the teens were bad it was just that the group of them being together began to cause the problems. It also contained a lot of bad language. Like I said...maybe realistic, but I already get to read that enough. And...Book 3, well it was the story of what lust and greed get you.
The Turnback - You Kill Me:"You Kill Me" is the official soundtrack to the book MURDER IN MONTAGUE FALLS (Noir-Inspired Novellas by Russ Colchamiro, Sawney Hatton & Patrick Thomas). Russ Colchamiro (a long time friend and fellow creator) asked the band to write what would be considered a closing credit tune for the book. We were happy to do so!
