This is a place to read what I think about various books and to give your own opinions about books. I am a plain-spoken person but this is not the place for any hurtful words. Being hurtful accomplishes nothing for anyone.

Do you ever wonder who you really are? Richard Cole was front page news a few weeks after his birth in 1944, but this was something he never knew. He did know he was adopted and he did wonder who he really was. But, as a young adult, he wondered much more about finding success, a simple goal that seemed so elusive.

If you were given a second chance at life, what would you do with it?
Kevin Parker was given that chance when he woke in the hospital, hooked up to machines, unable to move, speak, or even breathe on his own. The doctors explained that he had nearly died from a drug overdose. For four months, he hovered on the threshold of death. As his body broke down, he lost his leg and nearly lost his life. His recovery was slow and excruciating. During that odyssey through hell, he made the decision to fight back against addiction. He embraced his inner warrior and began a spiritual journey of self-development. As Kevin forged his new path, he discovered the power that we all have to build a life of fulfillment and joy. Along the way, he became a coach and a public speaker to inspire others to overcome their own struggles.

This is an "against all odds" tale of one man's journey from Vancouver, to all over Western Canada, California, The Yukon, and Alaska. Seemingly blocked at every turn, from managers who believed that someone who came from such humble beginnings couldn't be any good, to coaches who would rather see big names with bigger reputations. It's a story of tragedy, triumph and determination. A roller coaster ride with hilarious anecdotes of all the characters he met along the way.
This is a tale for those who dare to live their dream!

Charles was born in London U.K. in 1932. During his birth the forceps slipped, resulting in brain damage to the motor control nerves of his right side and causing total body spasticity. However, his intellect was not damaged. Throughout his life the two adversaries, controllable brain and semi-controllable body, always needed to be balanced. After several years of work and study he became a Chartered Production Engineer. In 1971 he emigrated to Australia and became a senior examiner in the Australian Patent office. This autobiography illustrates the rhyme: “He started to sing as he tackled the thing, That couldn’t be done - but he DID IT!” Charles chronicles his journey from useless to useful, with humour and joie de vie. He pays tribute to friends who only gave him help when it was asked for. At a young age he recognized his psychic abilities and, by using lessons at the end of each chapter, shares some insights with readers![]() |
