A Day in the Life of Larry and Roger

A Day in the Life of Larry and Roger, A Pair of Diabetic Feet

by Vicki Myhre

"When we get to the end of our day, we want to sit back and reflect on everything we did, and we want to know in our hearts that we did a good job being good diabetics for another day."

A book for all ages, and whether you are diabetic or live with some one who is, this book is a valuable and educational read for everyone.

Larry the left foot and Roger the right foot are sure to delight and amuse you as they take you through a typical day in their lives. They show you how they strive to be the very best diabetics that they can be by living a healthy lifestyle every single day. As a result of dedication to their plan, they are certain that they will live longer, happier lives full of enjoyment and fun.

This is a multidimensional book featuring a short illustrated story that portrays a day in the life of a diabetic. On a whole different level, each page is full of great information for those who wish to dig a bit deeper into the whys and hows of simplifying diabetic life. It also includes many references, in a system that is built to help in teaching you how to find the answers to any questions that you may have.

my review...

As the synopsis above says, this really is a book for all ages. If you're an adult it has all sorts of advice, ideas, even planning sheets, to help you or you and someone helping you. If you are a parent helping or teaching a child to learn to take care of themselves and to live as healthy or smooth a life as possible this is for both of you too. It doesn't matter if you are learning or teaching, it is laid out and written for many purposes.

And to help take in so many facts and rules, it has cute illustrations to make the whole thing a little lighter. Something to make you smile about all of this. True, they may be illustrations of feet named Larry and Roger:) but they are still cute.

Amongst the facts are even ideas to help you implement certain health steps and worksheets and references in the back to keep you on track. Truly a good book for any diabetic.

read an excerpt...

Sleep Is as Important as What You Eat

In general, people with diabetes have to be very careful about sleep because anything that throws off their routine can make them feel a lack of energy and fatigue. The more fatigued they feel, the more their motor is running, and the more likely they are to develop insulin deficiencies.

Proper sleep is as important as diet for people with diabetes."

ZZZZZZZZ…… Sleep is so important for a good diabetic. Our busy day has tuckered us out. Roger and I are off to dreamland now. After our nightly routine, we have turned out the lights and crawled in between our clean, comfy sheets. I lay in the stillness and hear the faint buzzing of Roger’s snore … zzzz. All is good with the world. We will rest up and be ready for another fabulous day tomorrow. Sweet dreams, everyone.

We hope your day was as amazing as ours and that you look forward to tomorrow’s sunrise as much as we do.

Until we meet again, make your footprints count.

"Determining How Much Sleep You Need

There is no formula for how much sleep you need. It depends on you.

On average, we need 7.5 hours per night, but your sleep requirement is genetically determined and varies. It can be about four hours on the short end to ten or eleven on the long end."
