GO, Gabbie, GO!

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. The author will award a $10 Amazon/BN gift card to a randomly drawn winner. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

Go, Gabbie, Go was written as a gift to my illustrator and friend Gabbie Studley...

Gabbie is a young woman with a big dream to fly. The only thing bigger than Gabbie's dream is her heart. Read along as Gabbie achieves her dream of flight. Thank you, Gabbie, for your beautiful illustrations and friendship.

My review...

Oh my…this is so good. It’s a tough decision to decide whether the author or the illustrator wins best prize here. Great big, bright and  beautiful pictures and page after page of really interesting facts about female flyers. This is a story of Gabbie who dreams of being a pilot. In the midst of all this fun, the story of female pilots is woven from the first female stunt pilot to the first female fighter pilot and wing commander.

I can’t say enough about this book. It’s so professional and so great for kids. While I think the reading level may be for the 3 thru 5 grades, I think this could and should be read to earlier ages. The possibilities for discussion and even more digging into things kids love are endless.

It’s educational, wildly so, and it’s fun to read and beautiful to look at. Can’t ask for much more than that, can you? Maybe more of Gabbie’s friends want to be doctors, lawyers, scientists, chefs, police officers, etc. Hope I’m getting my idea across to the author :) We could use more stories like this.

About the Author:The author is an ornery old woman who lives with her crotchety old husband in the woods of New Hampshire. Her greatest joy is watching her grandson, Pip, on his great adventures.
